Our gatherings

We have several types of gatherings:

Our Salons help members understand politics and economics, in Japan and globally.

Our Custom Member Lunches are set up for members who request to meet one particular person to discuss one particular topic.

Our CEO Summits combine peer mentoring and best practice sharing for specific, practical topics, such as improving B2B sales in Japan, or understanding digitalization. It’s the right and privilege of a DN member to request any of the above meeting types.

We have a have shareable calendar you can access on request, to get a sense of what we do.

Please email [email protected] or [email protected] for access.

If the situation deteriorates badly enough, foreign companies might get a visit from the Fair Trade Commision or the tax authorities. Japanese business is an ecosystem, and issues with one...

What Next? We have just lost Japan’s longest-serving prime minister. What next? Hopefully, Japan does not go back to the pre-Abe era, characterised by debt, deflation and demographic crisis, not to mention a ‘revolving door’ of mediocre and interchangeable prime ministers. But in the short term, we must worry about deputy-PM Taro Aso taking over as interim leader. He is a fiscal hawk under the sway of the Ministry of...

A while ago, Delphi members and guests brainstormed about ‘e-commerce’. We decided to assume e-commerce referred to physical goods, so the event attracted CEOs from companies selling perfume, couture, shoes and so on. Scott however, left unsatisfied. What happens if you run a company selling back-office and business expansion services like Tricor? What about if you are selling PR, banking, insurance, education and consulting? As is...

What happened? How did we get here? Millions of people are facing serious challenges. Governments are facing historic falls in output, budget deficits, consumption, and tax revenue. The many living closer to the absolute poverty line in supply chain hubs like India, Africa and SE Asia will suffer more. How did we get here? Dr Paul Scalise, an internationally renowned expert on ‘framing’ will illustrate the extreme reaction to Covid 19...

At this Summit a CEO and DN member wishes to brainstorm the form and function of the post-Covid 19 office. The group is by invitation only and consists gaishikei CEOs. Many CEOs (as attested on the Delphi ‘classifieds’ Whatsapp forum) are taking this opportunity to trim office space and office costs. With WFH now well established, this looks like an obvious solution. But where does that leave the office? One DN adviser mentioned that...
