The Delphi Network

Founders

Dan Slater

In 2013, Dan Slater founded the Delphi Network with his sister Rosie, establishing it as Tokyo’s premier bespoke business intelligence and relationship-building service. Before this, he directed The Economist Group’s Corporate Network (ECN), where he won a prize for designing a program for Japanese staff at foreign companies. During his tenure, he appeared on CNBC and BBC, and nearly doubled ECN’s membership, leveraging unique post-3/11 tsunami events to guide members through critical decisions about their future in Tokyo.

Dan moved to Japan in 2008 after spending 12 years in China as a foreign correspondent and deputy editor for FinanceAsia. He covered significant developments such as China’s economic evolution, the rise of the private sector, and the unique social atmosphere. He also interacted with many of China’s notable entrepreneurs, some of whom have since become prominent figures in business or faced severe consequences.

Dan holds a degree in Oriental Studies (Chinese) from Oxford University and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics. He is fluent in Chinese, French, and German, bringing a wealth of knowledge and linguistic skills to his leadership at the Delphi Network.

Rosie Slater

Rosie Slater joined forces with her brother Dan in Tokyo in 2013 to co-found The Delphi Network, where she was principally responsible for business development. In 2018, she headed to Singapore and joined IMA Asia, a peer group forum for Asia CEOs and senior executives, as its Forum Director. Since April 2023, Rosie has been expanding the Delphi Network’s footprint beyond Japan. She aims to leverage the DN’s Japan business, along with the UK’s recent entry into the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the UK-JP Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), to help Japanese businesses enhance their activities in the UK.

Rosie began her career as a financial journalist in Hong Kong, moving into financial PR at Nomura HK in 2010, and then heading to Tokyo for six years. She is a 4th dan aikidoka, and a former instructor at the Yoshinkan Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo. In 2020, she left Asia and returned to the UK to implement a conservation program to enhance and protect the biodiversity of the family’s 100-acre farm in Wales. This remains one of her key projects.
